Volume is a control signal, not a transcript
The optional microphone gate measures the level of local audio samples. Sound above your selected threshold allows the existing scroll speed to advance; a sufficiently quiet interval holds it. A small opening delay and closing delay reduce rapid switching around the threshold. This process does not identify words, speakers, pronunciation or whether you followed the script.
Use the microphone permission button only when you want this mode. Check the live level while you speak and while the room is quiet, then choose a threshold that separates those conditions as well as the environment permits. Music, nearby conversation and changing microphone gain can still trigger movement. Manual pause remains available when the threshold cannot describe the situation reliably.
Keep the timing interpretation honest
Volume waits are included in running time and listed separately in the take table. An explicit pause is another measurement. Neither quantity is a direct measure of hesitation or delivery quality: a gate can remain closed because of microphone placement, permission problems or room conditions rather than the speaker’s intent.
Stop the microphone to return to manual mode. Hiding or closing the workspace also releases its input. If permission is denied or the browser cannot provide a microphone, manual prompting remains usable. No audio file, camera recording or transcript is created by this product.
Choose a retention method
Persistent saving starts off. The project is held in the current tab until you download it or enable the local-save checkbox. The browser copy contains the script, settings, paragraph bookmarks, finished takes and last saved reading position. Finish an active take before leaving when you want its timer data retained.
Browser storage is convenient but can be cleared, blocked or available to another person using the same browser profile. It is not encrypted or synced by this tool. Download the project JSON as a portable backup, use TXT when only the script is needed, and use CSV for the timing table. Turning local saving off removes this tool’s stored project copy.
